Carl Orff & Gunild Keetman - Gassenhauer
Although inseparably associated with Terrence Malick’s Badlands, Gassenhauer originally belongs to a group of pieces called “Musica Poetica” from the Orff Schulwerk collection, a pedagogical work developed by the composer as a child-centered music learning method. The xylophone piece is arranged around a much older composition for lute dating back from the late Renaissance (1536).
It was later reworked by Hans Zimmer for True Romance, an homage to Badlands itself.
